Yellow Alps 60%
the second edition is always better right?

I bought the parts for this keyboard years back soon after I built the Blue Alps 60%. They kind of just sat there waiting for the inspiration to hit me. I think I had just miserably broken up with a girlfriend, or maybe I was just plain bored, and finally decided to assemble this one. Either way, I am happy with how it turned out. I don’t use it all that much but buying a nice case for it is still on my list. Maybe then I’d use it more.
Shortly after I built my Blue Alps 60% I was so happy with it I went in for the second run of Hasu PCBs. That was 4 years ago, and today I finally had that free weekend I was waiting for to build it. Figured since its been a couple years I should probably post some pictures, so here goes:
The switches are NOS Yellow Alps (from Blaise170’s group buy a couple years ago). A Dell AT101W plate on a Hasu 60% Alps PCB.
I wanted to use my second set of Alpine Winter keycaps but I didn’t have enough Cherry mount alps stabilizers to support that, so I went with an Olivetti Tai-Hao set I had on hand.
The whole Alps custom keycaps/plates/stabilizer ecosystem really sucks. I think the longest time spent on this was bending stabilizer wire, trimming and cutting alps stabs to get the spacebar functional.
I still need to pony up for a nice 60% Poker style case, but overall I am quite happy with how it turned out. Alps SKCL Yellow are quite delightful! Pretty similar to green SKCL. Might consider lubing them at some point, but I am content for now.
One more for the collection.
